See It: The Community being helped
For so long many teens especially have went around using the quote " What You Don't Know Can't Hurt You" repeatedly. This quote has proven to be true personally in my life. Growing up and learning of the deaths of my loved ones deat was a sad experience but what turned to be even sadder is once I hit my teenage years I found out that a few of them had died of AIDS. What I didn't know did hurt me. AIDS is an ever growing issue in our society yet people try to stray from discussing it. What You Dont' Know Can Hurt You is an event that I hope I may be able to take to campus' nationwide but first beginnining with my own university. North Carolina A&T State University. At North Carolina A&T Rae Lewis-Thornton, a baptist minister, and AIDS victim, and advocate will be the keynote speaker. This event will be used to change not only the lives of those involved in the fight for AIDS but also to all who attend these events. The event will always begin with a "Pennies for AIDS Drive" in which all donations will go to the National AIDS Fund as well as any other donations made.
