Playing the violin is a lot of fun, but students attending my school don’t have the opportunity to learn to do so, as we have no orchestra. The first time I brought my violin to school, a boy actually stopped me to ask if it was a banjo. Of course, I was dumbfounded, and waited for the punch line to what I was hoping would turn out to be some incredible joke. It wasn't. Though we do not have an orchestra, we do have a high rate of poverty and sub-standard math scores on standardized tests.
