See It: The Community being helped

After I had thought up this pretty complex plan, I gathered a few members of the Asian Culture Club (which I am Vice-President of) to help with the organization. Our goal was to find ten teachers in our school who were willing to perform karaoke in front of the entire school to raise money for needy children in India and Nepal. From there, we made little boxes out of Chinese take-out containers (because we're the Asian Culture Club) and labeled one box per teacher. Every week we went around to all of the classrooms, asking the students for donations toward the teacher(s) that they wanted to see perform. The five teachers with the most money in their boxes would perform. Every week we made about $50 to $100 and sometimes more. We then began selling tickets to the event for $2 in advance (they would be $3 at the door). We had raised about $1000 just before the event, and we had nearly 350 guests attend, most of whom bought their tickets at the door. We raised another $500 at the door. The performances were hilarious and entertaining. We had a special guest attend, Michael Daube, the executive director of CITTA (the organization we were supporting, www.citta.org). He gave a great explanation of the organization, which started a few schools in Arisa, India and a women's center in Nepal. He was absolutely thrilled that we had certainly raised over $1000 for his cause.
