Fundafield is an organization made by kids for kids. The organization raises money to build soccer fields for children in South Africa. The organization was created in order to improve the life of thousands by giving children a release from poverty, drugs, and violence that are so common in South Africa through the game of soccer. To date Fundafield has raised $39,666 by fundraisers such as bake sales, garage sales, and selling sqares (donations). The organization has already raised enough money for the construction of two fields, one field at Mdluli High School, and another field at Manyangana High School. Fundafield is aided by many local and national companies including: Eurosport, Great Koler graphics, Alive Magazine, XL Travel Tours, and Soccer America magazine. This summer many of the Fundafield members will be going to Mduli High School and hosting a tournament for the children of Mduli and neighboring towns.

Africa Dream Project (ADP) exists to eliminate poverty and empower lives.

We are a not-for-profit group founded and run by students. As students, we understand the immense value of education. We also see the extreme poverty in our world. And so, ADP members utilize passion and education to empower otherwise highly vulnerable individuals who live amidst extreme poverty. In doing so, we give them a chance to overcome desperate conditions and positively impact our world!

Our Current Projects exist in Kibera Slum, Kenya. Kibera is known as Africa's most-densely populated slum. It is, by definition, extreme poverty.

ADP takes American students into the slum for hands-on interventions. In doing so, our members gain new depths of compassion and dedication as they experience life with the people they seek to help.

Our two long-term projects in Kibera:
1. Construction of the FIRST world-class high school for Kibera's orphans.
- The high school will allow orphans to accomplish their dreams as connect from middle school to University. There are an estimated 50,000 orphans in Kibera alone! Currently, most have no access to any high school. We’re changing this!
2. Micro-Enterprise business for widows in Kibera.
- Widows are marginalized and vulnerable. There are thousands in Kibera, a place where 1 in 5 people is HIV-infected! As a result, many widows must resort to commercial sex just to provide food for their children. ADP is helping to take women out of prostitution and supply them with noble small-scale business.

ADP also intensely engages the American community by actively creating awareness about poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa and the world. We paticpate in national events and local events year-round.

We currently have one official chapter at the University of Southern California.

Project Description

This project is a fundraising event that I brought to my school's attention. I would like to hold a community event where there is a silent auction, a speaker, music, dancing, raffles, donation jars, activities and a large art project. The money raised will be sent to GI-Net, (Genocide Intervention Network,) and will be used to buy firewood and stoves for families in Internally Displaced Persons camps. This is very important because when the families run out of firewood to cook with, they have to travel up to 15 miles to get more. Men cannot go, because they run the greatest risk of being killed by the Janjaweed militia. Women and children have to go instead, and they are usually raped and/or killed on their way.
In this event, I am planning on writing to many different stores and companies to ask them if they would be interested in helping us by making tax-deductable donations in the form of money and/or objects for the auction and raffle. If people don't want to take part in the raffle or auction, there would be different shaped and sized donation jars for loose change that the people would like to donate. I would also like to get a large piece of cloth and different colors of paint, and whoever comes to the event and donates gets to put their handprint and name up on the cloth. I was thinking that this could either be sent off along with the money as a giant card, or it could be hung up somewhere as a reminder of what we all did.

Eddie urges youth to make changes for people living in underpriveleged communities in Africa. His group has built two community centers in Africa. They are currently building a new youth village that includes 12 houses and a medical clinic.
