I will be collecting new boxes of Crayons and monetary donations to donate to the children in CHOC.
(Children's Hospital of Orange County)
Play experiences can help children to cope and adjust to illness and hospitalization. Play is one way the CHOC and CHOC at Mission Child Life Specialists meet the developmental, psychosocial, emotional, and educational needs of our patients.

Starting on April 26th, 2008 we will be going to local hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizens centers, The Pittsburgh Children's Hospital and other places to put on plays, skits, talent shows and more to make our audience laugh and enjoy life! During some shows we will share a bible story with the people and we will give away stuff. We look forward to putting on costumes just to put a smile on the people that we are trying to entertain and we hope that you will join us to entertain someone who needs a smile in their day!

Ascending Africa's highest mountain to provide medical supplies for Tanzania!
In the summer of 2008, I will be journeying to Kenya on a study abroad program through Michigan State University. After this program, I'm going to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 19,340 feet. I am doing this not only for personal reasons; I am climbing to benefit the people of East Africa.
My project, Kilimanjaro: Climbing to Cure (KCC), seeks to find sponsors and raise $14,000 to send a 40-foot container shipment of medical supplies to support the Gonja Lutheran Hospital.

My Student Service Project – Canine Therapy
Whether we are sick, in mourning, in trial, or frustrated, there is something that can always put a smile upon our face. It never complains, is never unhappy, rarely afraid, and is always there when we need it. Wagging a friendly tail, dogs make our face break into a grin and give us hope for the future. When the going gets rough, they lick away all our tears. Studies show that simply stroking a dog lowers the human heart rate and reduces blood pressure.

When I was a month old I was diagnosed with a birth defect. My major pectoral muscle is missing, along with one and a half of my ribs, one third of my shoulder blade and lung, and most of the muscle in my arm, all on my right side. It's the same thing as when a kid is born with only a stubb where his arm should be. I'm really lucky. At about six years old I was accepted into the program at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Los Angeles. It's this free hospital for kids with birth defects.
It was kind of a hassle getting up there since I lived six hours away on a day with no traffic.

Triage Consulting Group is a healthcare consulting company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Our corporate social responsibility mission is to make the greatest impact upon our community that we possibly can.
Although many corporate firms verbally promote or sometimes fiscally support their employees in their volunteer work, Triage goes one step further. Triage is unique in that it encourages their employees to make an impact by providing each with 16 volunteer time off (VTO) hours per year.

I have been working to raise money to purchase books and DVDs for teenagers in the pediatrics ward at my local hospital. My focus is teenagers because most people think of young children in the pediatrics ward, not preteens and teens. Hopefully I'll be able to move on to more hospitals after this one.

Just Read It! is designed to bring together children and teenagers through books in many different settings. We would like to reach mainstream and not-so mainstream children. Our 4 goal groups are foster, hospitalized, blind and "regular" kids. The idea is to collect books or to write our own and record these stories onto the computer. When that is done we will make CD's to send to any child who is feeling down, lonely, sad, or sick.

Our generation is poised in a unique position to tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time through direct action. Yet the talents of many of our most highly motivated future leaders are unable to reach African non-profit and non-governmental organizations due to a host of barriers. Businesses exist to place volunteers in some of these organizations, but they are prohibitively expensive for most students, and many are insensitive to the needs of the communities they work within.

As many little kids, I loved teddy bears. My favorite though, was my bee-bee bear. He was chocolate brown and had bown eyes. I loved him very much. Then my friends father died of cancer. I hadn't thoughtabout cancer to much but then it hit me, millions of people die from this. I want to take action and help this. For every teddy bear bought 90% of the fee wil go to sick kids hospitial, and the bear with it.
