The purpose of having established Teens in the Driver Seat (TDS) Program in my school is to inform peers of the five major risks associated with teen driving to eliminate teen car crashes and thus saving lives. Recently, I lost a teen friend in a car crash and through the grieving process, I decided to take a stance in promoting teen safe driving. With the support of nine friends, I initiated the Teens in the Driver Seat Student Organization at La Joya High School on March 3, 2008. During the past four weeks, we launched a very successful campaign advocating teen driving safety.
