Surfaid International is a non-profit organization that was created by Dr. Dave Jenkins in order to help the Mentawai people. The Mentawai people are dying from treatable and preventable diseases like measles, malaria, diarrhea, and tetanus. Aside from this, the Mentawai Islands were hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the inhabitants are still feeling the effects of this disaster as well.
