Community Day Playground Build

When children do not move and exercise, a variety of long-term problems arise. Obesity, lack of attention span during class, lack of ability to work as a team, lack of want to take risks. All research shows that without play, children grow up to be non-productive adults.

We could not let our students be in this position, just because our playground was 12 years old, rotting, too small and as the kids say "too boring".

We will ensure after this playground build that all of students are moving around during recess and after-school getting all of the benefits of PLAY!

House of Hope of Ocean County, Inc.

I am currently volunteering at a brand new community resource home titled the House of Hope. The House of Hope of Ocean County, Inc. is a non-profit, interfaith organization which assists individuals and families achieve and sustain self-sufficiency.

Dayton faces many diverse issues and needs. The Dayton Task Force is a group of volunteers striving to make a difference our community. The Dayton Task Force is sponsored and supported by Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties. The Task Force’s goal is to address the issues of addiction and poverty in the Dayton community by offering youth activities, awareness campaigns, education, and resources.

Save Our Little Train!

Our local zoo has a small train that travels through the park and has been a part of our zoo and community for many years. We recently learned that our train was in need of some major repairs and if not repaired, we would lose the little train forever! The Do Something Club at Logan Avenue Elementary School decided to help with the community-wide effort to save the train by hosting a "Penny Drive" in our school. To take it one step further, we got the other elementary schools in our community involved as well!
