Students from Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School will go to a homeless shelter and surprise a group of children with a day of fun to help lift their spirits. We will have games, arts & crafts, face painting, music and much more.

At TeenSmarts® we believe that children benefit strongly from knowing and following the rules of proper behavior. Our society today reflects decades of eroding human values. But, rather than simply sit around and commiserate with others about this decline in values and behaviors. TeenSmarts has taken action by developing a program that seeks to make a difference in the lives of the children and families it touches.

The TeenSmarts program is based on the following four guiding principles:

Community C-Som Ministries

I am very glad to be apart of the c-som (Crestview Students On Missions) ministries. On every tuesday during the summer, my youth group goes out into the community and serves in every way possible. We do everything including washing car windows at gas stations, cleaning gas station toiletts, fixing houses, painting houses, handing out cold bottles of water to workers, picking up trash on the side of the highway, and everything else you can think of. It is one of the most anticipated projects of the summer! Seeing the expressions and smiles of the people makes it 100% worth it!

The Needy Drive

Every year starting in December the Noatinal Honnor Society ask for about 125 families in the La Joya community who are in need. In November we go to bussiness and ask for a donation to the needy family Drive. With the money we buy all of the toiletries for all of the families and sometimes roof tops, windows, doors and heaters. We ask the students, culbs, JROTC, sport teams, and Central Office from La Joya High School to help participate in this project. We ask them to donate toys, food, clothing, or anything they wish to donate.

Coat Drive "One Warm Coat"

My Girl Scout troop is having a coat drive (used coats in good condition). We will collect coats from home, family, friends, and we will have a collection box at our elementary school.

The coats will be donated to Carrollton's Metrocrest Social Services Center (http://www.metrocrestsocialservices.org/). A local dry cleaner has donated their services - They will clean all donated coats for no charge.

Animal Art Show!!!

At Paint Lick Elementary, in the After School Program, in central Kentucky we spent a couple of weeks designing posters to display in a art show. The kids loved the hands-on with the art work, but even more so, they loved the fact that we we're hosting this art show in order to take up donations for our local animal shelter. So, after all the posters were finished, we set a date to have our "art show". All the kids brought their parents and we sold concessions, with all the money going to Garrard County animal Shelter.
