See It: The Community being helped
We are trying to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and help to find a cure. Our community is full of people diagnosed with cancer, so by supporting them, we put a smile on their face. All the money is donated to the Cancer Society, and our charity is non-profit. We're hoping this will support cancer research, and that there is a cure found in the near future.
Believe it: Describe your project/org
Our names are Allie, Sarah, and Kathryn, and we started our charity called "Spread the Love" about 2 weeks ago.We decided to do it for cancer, since that was an issue that was affecting the 3 of us greatly, since just recently, Kathryn's mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. It hit us all pretty hard. We decided it was our duty to become a part of helping the cancer world, by helping to find a cure, raising money, and supporting Kathryn's mom during this time. Our charity is 100% nonprofit, and all the money is directly donated to the American Cancer Society. Our spanish teacher always says "Do Good Things For People," and it inspired us to start Spread The Love. Spread the Love's slogan is "fashion for a cure," because we design tie-dye clothing, accessories, shoes, and other things for girls. We are starting to sell our products this weekend, at a local arts fair, and we are currently trying to get an account on pay-pal to sell products on e-bay. It took alot of work to make the tie-dye shirts, and it also takes alot of money, since it was all coming out of our own pockets. We are also trying to plan a charity benefit concert over the summer, but were having a hard time getting the money since the band charges $5,000. we are currently in the process of finding another band that would do it for free to help support Spread the Love and other Cancer Charities. We are extremely proud of our charity, and we put alot of time and effort into it. We hope this is an ongoing charity through our high school years, maybe even beyond. We especially hope there is a cure for cancer found soon.Build it: Steps taken to create the project/org and the kind of impact made
To start our charity, we needed time, effort, commitment, patience, cooperation, belief, courage, and fun. We needed to get all the supplies needed, and we needed to make money daily to pay for the products we were selling, by babysitting for families in our community. It was necessary to work on a budget, since we had to buy products we needed by ourselves. We needed to find a supervisor, to help promote, and guide Spread The Love. We also needed to plan our time, give 110% effort, and believe in ourselves.Vital Stats
