The project which I am trying to carry out is to help the helpless people in Darfur. I am a senior in High School and i feel the first big step is to get the student body involved, so I want to have assemblies in school to reach out to the youth first and during lunches have little tables set up so for loose change which they may have. Then, I want to spread the awareness by posting up flyers all around my school and town.

Girls Lead! (previously Girls' Economic Power Day) is targeted towards teen girls in order that they may learn life skills not taught in the classroom. Participants attend informative and inspiring workshops developed and lead by teen girls on topics such as fearless speaking, negotiation skills, career options, budgeting, investing, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, entrepreneurship, how to get a job, stereotypes and much more. Teen Moxie believes young women first need to be comfortable with themselves before they can truly be successful at gaining economic power.

After composing an essay and doing an interview, I became a volunteer at the San Diego Zoo. This gave me an opportunity to talk to the public about pressing environmental issues such as habitat destruction and climate change. With the help of "biofacts" - such as furs, tusks and feathers - I began to spread the word of endangered species around the world. But I also presented onlookers with small, simple solutions that have the potential to make real differences.

Perspectives was founded in 2005 to promote youth debate. Debate teaches students critical thinking and public speaking skills that helps students achieve in school and beyond. Through arguing both sides of a topic, students learn about the pressing social, political, and economic issues of our time, from globalization to human rights, and become engaged citizens and social activists. Perspectives’ work has been recognized by Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Philadelphia Mayor-Elect Michael Nutter as a valuable organization for students.

CCYPAA in 2008 is going to be in Grand Junction and they needed help raising the funds needed to make this convention a success. I live in Fort Collins Colorado and we have a small community of young people here that are dedicated to our sobriety, and part of this is helping out fellow alcoholics and being of service. This year the CCYPAA committie decided to have a fund raiser at the York Street AA Club in Denver Colorado. Since we recieved a lot of help from the Denver and Boulder AA groups when we hosted CCYPAA in 2005, we decided to pitch in.

This program is a peer youth mentoring program for students aged 12 - 16, where students not only focus on enhancing their academic studies but learn to be successful in life through computer learning, travel and community service and leadership projects and activities. We have been responsible for helping a local early childhood education center seek and obtain funding to develop a new play area for their students aged 3 - 9 and are currently working on a project where we are helping them obtain funding for a youth playground for their students aged 10 - 13.
