Eight high school students and 4 college freshman are traveling to Nicaragua this summer to run a music camp for the children of a poor village called San Jose de Cusmapa. We'll be working with about 150 children ages 7 - 18. In addition to teaching workshops in flute, piano, guitar, voice, theory, drums, bass, violin, and saxophone, we will also bring donated music supplies and workbooks to create a small "music library" at the village school.

After traveling to several different Latin American countries and studying about developing nations in school, I started to learn and see for the first time what exactly is extreme poverty. And the one thing I've learned is that education is a key to ending it-- and in these developing nations I have met some of the kids most thirsty for education yet lacking the resources to get it. I would like to collect educational tools such as books, school supplies, ect. and distribute them to these places I have seen and these kids I have met that have changed my life.
