Indigenous girls continue to be one of the most disenfranchised populations in the country. We suffer one of the highest rates of suicide, obesity and one of the lowest rates of attaining a college degree. Since I am on track to a higher education, attending a private school, I feel a responsibility to support other girls like me, to access their college education. Another major factor in the ability of indigenous people accessing higher education is the complete misunderstanding of our community.
