The fundraiser will be helping one person, but it will also be spreading the word about Tiananmen Square through our website. Not many people in middle/high school realize the history of that place, so our club is going to be educated through research and documentaries, and then we'll pass on the knowledge.

This is a fundraiser bonfire for the Cambodian Children's Fund
There are so many poor children in Cambodia who do not have anywhere to go. They scrounge the streets for food and are constantly in danger. the money raised from this event will contribute to funds to build educational centers for these children. That way, these kids will have somewhere to go, somewhere safe and productive.

I would like to start a sand volleyball tournament and cook out at the Band Shelter on 23rd Street in Bettendorf, Iowa this summer. There are two courts there, so we could have two pools of teams playing at once. The champion form each bracket would play in the end. ALL MONEY EARNED WOULD GO INTO BUYING TREES, which would be planted around the city. I am going to try to see if Wallaces Garden Center (or some other local garden center) will sell us trees for a discounted price. If possible, I also would like to hold a barbeque for any hungry people nearby.

It is what it sounds like: a high-school fundraiser on the weekend where students show up, pay a few dollars to relive their elementary school glory days bouncing a kickball on the blacktop, and help raise money for kids in developing nations throughout the world. What could be more fun or more necessary?

Thanks to many bakers and dessert contributions, the Brooks School DO SOMETHING Club held a bake sale during all lunch periods for two days, and has raised a total of $590.13. All monies go to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief fund to help those people who have lost homes in the California wildfires and other natural disasters around the country.

McFest is a benefit concert for Special Olympics at the Metro in Chicago. I am the co-chair and we are currently working on the second year of the show. In 2007, it was held in April and we featured six local high-school and college age bands from the Chicago area. They were: The Days, With Waking Eyes, Fishing With Spoons, TeamOne, Still Not Sexy, and Bury Me At Makeout Creek. Doors opened at 2:30, and the show was on its way at 3:00. We had Special Olympics global messenger Chris come on stage with us and speak about her experience with Special Olympics.
