According to the UN, 1.8 million children die every year as a result of diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation. Water Partners has even estimated that if water was invested in developing countries around the world, that would equal as many as 272 million school attendance days a year. Though most startling of all is that according to the UN, more than half of Africans lack access to safe water. The world water crisis is not only a sanitary issue, it is an educational issue, and a human rights issue.

A Spring of Hope's mission is to improve conditions at schools in Africa by providing water. By bringing water to schools, we impact the most number of people as children congregate there and families can take advantage of the water source as well. Water at school means less time off of school searching for water, cleaner classrooms and students, and gardens that provide a source of income for the school. A Spring of Hope encourages self-sustainability because we believe that Africa can rise from its knees when it can help itself.
