Well helloooooo friends! I've been travelling for a few days, so I hope you'll forgive my slump in posting. I'm back in action, though, and ready to deliver more celebrity acts of kindness. First up: This one goes out to all the Sex and the City fans.

Youth Night

We opened up The After Spot at the West Berkeley Senior Center every Thursday from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. It was a response to the parents concerns about the youth of Berkeley not having a place to be instead of wandering the streets. There have been a lot of killings in Berkeley due to gang violence and teenagers not having a place to go after school. We chose the Senior Center because they have pool tables, internet access and it was a convenient location since a lot of teenagers of color live in West Berkeley. There is also free tutoring by students from UC Berkeley.

Pangea Day

I am a huge believer in the power of film and art to inspire action toward creating social and global change. It stands to reason that those who pay to see cause-messaging movies are generally people who are already interested in social or political issues. Movies like Oscar-winnning An Inconvenient Truth have helped to change that by bringing the documentary format to the masses while scripted dramas like Blood Diamond mix in cause content with blockbuster casts and budgeting.

Two first-time filmmakers have teamed up with actor Ernie Hudson to make a beautiful and inspiring movie called Everything's Jake.

Green Luck

Good Luck Chuck hits theatres next week . . . and word on the street is that it is based on a true story. Not just anyone's story, in fact, but Steve Glenn's . . . CEO of Living Homes, a housing development project bringing pre-fab, green homes to the consumer.

Pete uses his time wisely

My highlight from last night's underwhelming VMAs? No, not the B-word (ie: Brit-Brit and her out-of-whack performance) . . . an excruciatingly close second to Chris Brown's AMAZING performance was Pete Wentz's shout-out to his pet charity project, Invisible Children. I've posted the trailer here before, but think it's worth a repeat:

Movie: Trade, part 1

Below are a few thoughts on a movie that I got the opportunity to see last night called Trade. Here's the trailer for an idea:
