We are capatilizing on our towns history in order to bring in more tourism to the area. Our county has a low unemployment rate, sometimes, the lowest in the state. More tourist in our area means more jobs and more money to develop our city and it's historic properties.
The City of Augusta has so many assets that have gone unused for many years. I think it is time we brought them out and let them shine.

Multiple studies show that African-American, Latino, and Native American students view history with repugnance. Children of color only perform marginally worse than whites in mathematics but perform much worse in history. This is because many of the textbooks still in use today were originally written during times of gross racial injustice. Based in our nation's capital, “Getting History Right” will be a program aimed at developing a comprehensive number of activities that effectively communicate with and engage students.

The Summer Institute hosted by the Southeast Asian Student Coalition is a 5 day 4 night week during the summer where high school students from all around California are brought to U.C. Berkeley Campus. These students are from low-income and under represented Southeast Asian refugee communities whose families have been affected by the Vietnam War. During this Summer Institute, the students are introduced to Southeast Asian Culture in an effort to tackle or help bridge the intergenerational gap resulting from growing up in the United States and living in a refugee home.

When people think of history, it usually conjures up memories of dry facts, such as names and dates that hold no meaning anymore – if they ever did. History is seen as a boring topic to many, but I know that this is not so: history is all about people, just like us, with fascinating stories to tell.

The Conscious Alliance www.consciousalliance.org creates opportunities for social action within music, art, and athletic communities to eliminate hunger and promote hunger awareness. We facilitate the redistribution of food to the hungry in cities and impoverished Indian Reservations.
Our New project Youth Against Hunger project (Y.A.H.) offers exciting alternative service-learning experiences for college students during their fall/spring breaks. Y.A.H synthesizes service learning by combining education and hands-on service.

When I went inside a furniture store in Fairfield, Maine, I found myself a great deal that had nothing to do with the price of a chair or a couch. The building was built in 1900, designed by Amos Gerald (name change from Fitzgerald). It was called 'The Gerald', a hotel considered the most majestic of it's time. It has hand carved wood banisters, stain glass windows, hand painted walls and crafted ceiling supports. The Renaissance style paintings smile at me from the ceiling and walls of the dining room, showing me this building was build with love and care.

I have been trying to restore Burbank, Oklahoma's rich history to improve the morale, mental, social, and economic welfare of the patrons in this community by providing and restoring a piece of the towns history to be show cased for future generations. I have been assisting in renovating the old elementary school believed to have been built in 1920. Through my research of the town's history, I have found that it was built before 1920. The exact date is still not known. This building once completed will be used as a co
