My communications class was given the task of doing 5 projects that would help others rather than ourselves. My partner and I came up with the idea of doing a documentary on recycled fashions. We plan to compare and contrast clothes that are home-made rather than mass produced, and hopefully make people more aware of problems like sweat shops and just how much they actually waste among other things.

Although we are looking forward and encorage everyone to do something like this, sometimes it's hard to find people who are willing to participate. If anyone is aware of anyone who uses any used materials and changes them into clothes, jewlery, etc. in the Windsor/Detroit area please let me know. Even if you don't know anyone specifically, but know of an organization, your information would be greatly appricated.

We do have acouple people already for the documentary but the more people/organizations we could meet with or promote, the better. We are trying to promote more than just fashion, but even a new lifestyle.

i am doing a school project in Polaris High School's fiber arts class having to do with service. my goal for this project is to get my community of fort collins, colorado and perhaps beyond to buy eco-friendly canvas and other cloth hand bags with catchy earthy phrases to grab the attention of shoppers. along with the bag would be a little pamphlet made of recycled paper giving facts about global warming and recycling to get minds thinking. i dont have the money to by fabric, but it is something i have a great passion for. i want to do something to help give awarness to my community in a positive, creative, and inspiring way. all of the money collected would go to various conservation and recycling services and institutions. my email is [edited out by DS Staff]

This charity will benefit teen homelessness. As a former teen who was homeless, there are not enough intiatives to help them. A lot of times, as teens, we are self-conscious of our clothing, especially when we are homeless, and lose a lot of clothing as we move from place to place. I want to do a fashion show that will showcase clothing made by original designers, and will feature the message that clothing can be cheap, affordable, and accessible to homeless teens. Designers have agreed to donate their clothing to a homeless shelter of their choosing, ultimately making the cause one of the solutions.

'Create a Retail Store' is a marketing campaign that I created. I am planning on majoring in fashion marketing and merchandising (business) when I start college so this project is relevant. Retail stores, and many other types of businesses boost the American economy and serve entertainment for many Americans on a regular basis. Many people feel that retail stores are for 'stuck up' people to buy overpriced clothing and accessories, but that is not a fact. The fact is that these stores introduce you to different aspects of art, because fashion is just another form of art, but instead of it being on a canvas it is on your body.
What some people don't understand, or look into is the fact that many fashion designers donate to charities as well. Some companies such as MAC Cosmetics donates to HIV/AIDS victims, while Giorgio Armani benefits Goodwill charities.

Project Description

On November 21-23, 2008, Team GOPINK! and thousands of other San Diegans will join the fight against Breast Cancer by walking in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day, a sixty mile walk, to benefit Breast Cancer Research and Education. Team GOPINK! is a group of women made up my mother, 10+ women, and myself. Each walker has a minimum fundraising goal of $2,200.00 that they must fulfill. Team GOPINK!’s fundraising goal is $30,000.

In order to benefit both breast cancer research and to involve the community, Team GOPINK! would like to host a Benefit Fashion Show & Silent Auction on April 26, 2008. This fashion show will feature local designers and boutiques. Prior to the show, a silent auction will be held to auction off small to large ticket items donated by several San Diego companies. A reception with gourmet hors d'oeuvres and complimentary drinks will occur simultaneously.

Team GOPINK! Captain, Kassandra Sandstrom, plans to continue this project and mission beyond this year's fashion show and walk. With enough support, GOPINK! will continue to grow and thrive. Its mission to end Breast Cancer will live on beyond November of 2008.

My name is Andrea. In May of 2004, I started a Live Journal community in the likeness of the popular CW television show, America's Next Top Model. In the beginning, this was merely for leisure and fun. I did not expect for the community to take off the way that it did.

The community, which has just completed it's 11th cycle/season, has become a way for people from all over the world that may not normally have the opportunity to model in the fashion industry (or even for the show), a chance to be a model. There are no limitations as to who can partcipate. Everyone is welcomed despite their name, age, sex, race, religious background, height, body type, etc.

Through this site, many friendships have been created or strengthened, models and photographers have had the opportunity to increase their portfolios and receive feedback, many have raised their self-esteem, and it's simply been a way to have fun. A gathering of music, art, fashion, and anything artistic to raise money. The money was for children in Uganda who are experiencing hard time. These children are going through hunger and being abducted to fight in a war that does not concern them.
The event was held in my high school after school hours. When invited fellow students who participate in the SCPA to perform. Students involved in dance, guitar, band, and any musical program took their bands and performed. Girls from dance created their own routine and performed. Students in art created special painting which were auctioned to the highest bidder.
The planners of the even gathered money for food by asking for donations and our own money. Also we made tickets that would allow people to enter the event.

The name of my company is Slate Theory. It is a teeshirt and hoody fashion line that uses artistic expression, the power and impact of fashion, and the buying power that consumer's hold to create a brand built upon the principle of ubuntu "I am because we are".

A hip-hop creative funky urban street chic vibe with a social mission as the foundation of the entire venture. The corporate social responsibility aspect is not merely an attatched word to boost sales, but it is truly devised based on giving back locally and globally.

The focus on my philanthropy efforts are going to be geared towards the youth, the elderly, latinos and african americans.

The company is based on a 50% 50% goal- once the company breaks even, hald the proceeds will go towards creating programs, events, scholarships to benefit others.
