Children, like adults, come in a variety of different shapes and colors and have a vast range of talents. Perhaps unlike adults, children are continually developing and re-evaluating their view of themselves. Their confidence level and their sense of self-worth, is being formed and shaped. They ask themselves, "where do I fit in?" All children are blessed with a unique set gifts or talents, such as athletic abilities, academic skills in reading or math, dance, theater or music. It is vitally important for a child to have positive feed-back from adults in order to have a depth of understanding of their "worth" and talents, especially as they develop into teens and young adults. In my role as a counselor and mother, I have noticed that sometimes imaginative, bright and gifted children do not have opportunities needed for developing their artistic talents which later could lead to an enriched life, an opportunity for improved self-confidence, and possibly for college scholarships.
Due to a variety of circumstances, many children with a talent or interest in the arts, have little opportunity to pursue their talents. Often, this is due to a living near or below the poverty level, parents experiencing a life crises, lack of resources or in their community or lack of access to quality programs.
New Community Ministries All HeARTs is committed to helping make music, dance, and theater arts accessible to children who otherwise have little or no chance of experiencing the life enhancing, therapeutic experience of exploring their giftedness and being acknowledged for their talents. In addition to the benefits of having accomplished something worthwhile, students participating in theater, dance and music helps to develop the child's language and memory skills. This is especially useful for students who are disabled or learning English as a second language.
Your donation will help a child move closer to their dream of having regular music lessons, paying for a rental instrument, helping to provide for dance lessons, participating as an actor in a children's play, or experiencing a once in a lifetime field trip to see the symphony, a ballet, or a play.
