F.I.R.S.T Robotics World Championship

We are the F.I.R.S.T Robotics team, 1885, aka, "The Robocats," from Battlefield High School in Haymarket Virginia. Our team's mission is to spread science, robotics, and technology to as many students as possible. We strive to inspire students from grades k-5, all the way to seniors in high school, to become interested in science and technology.

FIRST Robotics and What it means to Me When discussing the FIRST Robotics Competition, you establish the entire point until you, at least, touch base on Gracious Professionalism. According to Dr. Woodie Allen, “Gracious professionalism is the backbone of the competition.” Yet, you can’t begin to develop an idea of gracious professionalism without knowing what the competition is. FIRST is an organization developed to encourage up and coming youth of all ages to be involved in the field of science and technology.

LHS Math Club

During my sophomore year, my fascination in the content of my math courses and interest in real life applications (I've wanted to be an engineer since my freshman year) prompted me to found a math club. At first, I felt unsure if my peers would share my enthusiasm for mathematics. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that many students shared my interest. My high school math courses moved so quickly that we were unable to delve into useful applications of the skills we were learning.

Leland FIRST Robotics

We are a nonprofit organization, based out of Leland High School, that builds robots. By doing so, we build vital qualities such as teamwork and leadership, while also increasing our aptitude for mechanical, electrical, and programming endeavors, and simultaneously giving back to our community.
