Community Empowerment by PhotoVoice

In February 2008, my partner Alexi Motta and I, Charles Bergman, will move to the Dominican Republic to enter into what promises to be an exciting near-year of living and working among two impoverished communities near the large city of Santiago. One, Franco Bido, is a rural community of coffee farmers living a traditional agrarian lifestyle. The other, Batey Libertad, is composed of Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent, many of whom arrived to work in nearby sugar plantations.

At a time of renewal and accelerating development in the city of Newark, Agitecture aims to place urban planning tools in the hands of the city’s high school students with an innovative after-school program. Through our program, fifteen to twenty underserved high school students from Newark's central ward are exposed to historical and contemporary practices of urban planning (including valuable technology skills) in a twice-weekly classroom setting.

Urban Electronics is a non-profit organization which advances the knowledge of the game industry.

In this day and age with technology dominating all or most markets, the entertainment industry has swung towards video games. The market targets almost all ages but it is teenagers where the most interest and innovation can come from.

Many teenagers state that they have the best idea for a videogame, yet its never pursued. Urban Electronics captures those ideas and allows them to explore the videogame industry.
