Through this experience, participants not only address their interactions with others, but also investigate their own identity and discuss issues that can be difficult to approach in everyday life. By raising the level of consciousness about the sense of otherness and distrust, Anytown Arizona programs help prevent the negative spiral of alienation, prejudice and hatred.

TATU: Teens Against Tobacco Use

High School Teens present to 3rd, 5th, 7th grade and High School students through activities, ways to stay tobacco free for life.
3rd and 5th grade have classroom activities, while 7th grade and High School get health fair activities/games and special events through out the year to learn about the issues of tobacco use, second hand smoke and chew tobacco.

Diabetes in our communities

Diabetes in or communities is a project that allows youths to go out into thier communities and educate others with information on diabetes type 2. In doing so you develop facilitation skills, healthy living skills, people skills and many more. You get a chance to go out in your community and explore, you get to give a helping hand to others.

Overcoming depression

Many american students today cannot focus in class not because they are too proud but they are suffering from depression. I faced these problems in high school. But i did the right by seeking help from Mental health experts. My gaol is to help other kids overcome this problem. Somtimes people need to take a few deep breaths and imagine themselfs in a place they truly enjoy. I hope i can give back to community by helping other student succed.

Illinois Real Deal: Life 101

Illinois Coalition for Community Services is a program devoted to “helping communities help themselves.” In addition, they are committed to empowering people to determine the direction of their communities through education, advocacy and grassroots organizing. Throughout the summer, ICCS is teaming up with AmeriCorps to develop a program called Illinois Real Deal: Life 101 that would collaborate with local schools to educate young students on the importance of planning for their future.

My name is Miranda and I live in Texas in a small suburb outside the capital city of Austin. Our area contains a lot of children with special needs and disabilities and each year we get even more children. However, the special education CO-OP that my school is a part of does not always have funds needed to by needed equipment to the children, such as safety helmets or items to improve their motor skills. My goal is to raise money so that that forgotten necessities in the classrooms will be able to be paid for and will be bought.
