The Daytona Playhouse

For many years now, The Daytona Beach area has been immersed in expensive tourist traps that were meant to boost the economy. Unfortunatley, over time, this has not been successful, and the locals have had to face their fair share of let downs financially. The Daytona Playhouse gives the community an opportunity to overlook this in their lives and allows them to be apart of something wether they are in the audience, behined the scenes, or on stage providing laughter to the fellow community members that have fallen under hard times.

Puppet Theatre

This is a project I would like to run within my community for children during the summer. The program would be free and open to anyone willing to attend. The purpose of this project is to raise interest in theatre, the arts and literature in young children. I would use the grant money to purchase pupppets and items used to make a small stage for the puppet show.

All HeARTs; Inspiring Children and Bridging Communities Through the ARTS

New Community Ministries All HeARTs program is a non-profit organization which strives to bring music, drama and dance to at risk children. Our mission is: Inspiring Children and Bridging Communities through The ARTS. Our programs are designed to educate, enrich and energize the lives of children and families who live in under-resourced communities by utilizing the ARTS in a very unique way.

Spreading the Arts

Art is expression. The process of creating art transforms the artist. Inherent in that process of expression is the necessity to involve others in that transformation. As art has transformed me, I have been inspired to extend the wonder of theatre to children and my peers—to nurture growth in young people through their involvement in the arts. I discovered my passion for theatre when I entered high school, and have relied on the arts to maintain my sense of “self” during this time of transition.

IMPACT- Involving More Performing Arts for Children and Teens

Performing arts has been my passion for all my life. I'm very involved in dance, music, and theatre, and I feel bad that some children and teens throughout the community do not have exposure to the arts because of cost or availibility. My plan is to teach dance and acting lessons as well as hold plays and musicals for youth. I plan to hold these classes and activities free of charge so that any youth can join if they want to.

Volunteer Office Assistance

We are looking for a very special volunteer to help in the North Coast Rep administrative offices in a new volunteer position! We need some extra assistance keeping up with some basic office tasks and are looking for someone that can commit to 6 to 10 hours a week during our normal business hours (9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday). You will be helping with things like filing, ordering supplies, weekly mailings, and additional tasks as needed.

River City Children's Theater

Prior to 2004, students in rural Southern Columbia County (OR) had limited reach into local theater groups that focused on adults. There was a clear need and demand for theater exposure for students throughout the year. Myself and colleague Heather Bishop identified this need and set out to share our talents of acting and music with students in our small, rural town. River City Children’s Theater (RCCT) was born out of this desire. RCCT’s goal is to provide quality theatrical training and performance opportunities at an affordable cost.

Atolycus

Our goal is to make Shakespeare widely available across the nation and, more importantly, widely enjoyed and understood. Too often the Bard is ignored or considered too difficult to understand when in reality his works are just as relevant today as they were in his time. We believe that Shakespeare is one of history's greatest authors and that attending a performance of his works should be pain-less and dare we say enjoyable.

Intergenerational Theatre Program

This program started in October 2006. When it first started it was a group of college students going over to an independent living facility to play theatre games. In the second semester we worked together and wrote a play comparing life in an independent living facility to life on a college campus. At that performance we had a cast of 17, and an audience of over 100. This year we will be continuing to do the same, but we will be trying to make it bigger and better. We will be putting on two plays this year, one that we will be writing, and most probobly "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder.

Life As Joby

A touching story about a young man battling with his inner conscious to fight alcoholism, written and directed by Jim Gradillas. This powerful play has been tour across Scottsdale, Glendale, Phoenix, Peoria, etc. since September 2006 and has been making quite an impact on audiences.
