The ASPCA is 'Going Orange for Animals'

The ASPCA is kicking-off Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month on April 7 with iconic buildings and landmarks across the country supporting the ASPCA’s life-saving work by lighting up in the ASPCA's signature color and “Going Orange for Animals.”
On the heels — or shall we say paws? — of the April 7 lightings, the ASPCA will hold three events featuring live music, ASPCA experts and a host of pet-related activities:
- April 7 in New York City, NY
- April 18, Austin, TX
- April 25, Venice Beach, CA
New York City This April, the Big Apple will once again be 'Going Orange for Animals' with an all-out celebration in New York City's Union Square Park. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 7th from 4:00-8:00 pm and will feature adoptable animals, live music , refreshments, the ASPCA's animal cops from Animal Planet's Animal Precinct, expert advice from ASPCA behaviorists and poison control specialists and a variety of pet-themed activities including caricaturists, photographers, airbrushers and other pet-friendly festivities that will appeal to pet-lovers of all ages.
Austin On April 18th, animal lovers and pet-parents throughout Austin, TX will head to Zilker Park (2100 Barton Springs Road) with their four-legged friends in tow (those without pets are welcome to walk too!) to participate in the ASPCA's first annual 'Go Orange for Animals' 1.5k 'Wag-n-Walk'. The 1 mile dog walk, in collaboration with RunTex, will begin at 11:00am at the Rock Garden area of Zilker Park (2100 Barton Springs Road) and end in the same vicinity, at the foot of the ASPCA’s ‘Go Orange for Animals’ Festival. All registered walkers will receive an ASPCA T-shirt and a bandana for their canine counterpart. Immediately following the walk, walk participants and the general public will be invited to enjoy a celebration featuring adoptable animals from Town Lake Animal Center and the Austin Humane Society, discounted services and information from local spay/neuter groups- Animal Trustees of Austin and Emancipet, live music, refreshments (for humans and canines!), ASPCA experts, activities for dogs (including a doggy obstacle course!), drawings, photos, prizes and more! Los Angeles On April 25th, animal lovers and pet-parents throughout Los Angeles will head to Venice Beach with their four-legged friends in tow (those without pets are welcome to walk too!) to participate in the ASPCA's first annual 'Go Orange for Animals' 1.5k 'Wag-n-Walk'. The 1.5 mile dog walk will begin at 11:00 am at the Windward Plaza area of Venice Beach (1800 Oceanfront Walk, Venice Beach, CA 90291). Registration will begin at 9:30am on Ocean Front Walk across from Windward Plaza. All registered walkers will receive an ASPCA T-shirt and a bandana for their canine counterpart. Immediately following the walk, walk participants and the general public will be invited to enjoy a celebration featuring adoptable animals from Los Angeles rescue group, Bark Avenue Foundation, a remote radio broadcast and giveaways from L.A. stations, KOST and KTLK, ASPCA experts, refreshments, activities for people and dogs, drawings, photos, prizes and more!
