What to Know About the Nor'eastern

Here we go again. As East Coasters are still recuperating from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy last week, another crazy storm is expected to hit the area.

A nor’easter is predicted to bring 50 mph winds and heavy rain into New York and New Jersey starting Wednesday afternoon. Snow has already been reported this morning near Philadelphia and Atlantic City, and will fall from northern Maryland to eastern Pennsylvania. It's also forecasted that storm surges on the coastlines will reach up to 3 feet. With the storm predicted to last into Thursday, many fear that those who finally got power back may lose it again. 

The East Coast is taking no chances when it comes to this storm. Here are some evacuations and precautions you should know about.

1. Coastline communities in New York were ordered mandatory evacuations.
2. More than 620 nursing home residents in New York City’s Rockaway section were evacuated Tuesday.
3. All city parks, playgrounds and beaches are closed.
4. United airline suspended most New York City service starting at noon.
5. New York City Mayor Bloomberg is urging those without power and heat to go to shelters and warming centers since temperatures are expected to be in the mid-30s. Find a shelter near you.
