Hot Chocolate Stand

Pick a good location. Get fun people to work it. Pick a good time—like right in front of school in the morning or in front of the mall on a Saturday. Advertise it with posters the day before: “Want some hot cocoa? It’ll cost you 3 cans of veggies!” Give extra marshmallows to those who contrib mad cans.

Christmas Caroling in Your Hood

Grab a bunch of your friends. Belt out “Jingle Bells” & “Frosty the Snowman.” Ask the audience for some canned food. Deliver it to the food pantry together—and sing while you’re there!

Shovel Snow

Shovel snow in exchange for canned food. Its simple and you’ll get exercise!

Host a Movie Night

Charge a can o’ food as the admission price.

Take it a step further: ask a local movie theater to host it. Now you can get hundreds of peeps.

Have a Pajama/Dress Down/Crazy Hair Day

Petition your Principal. Set a goal. (Like, if 50% of teens bring in cans, you get to dress down.

Got an event coming up?

Holiday party? Big b-ball game? Hockey tourney? Make a can o’ food the price to play or watch. After the event/game, deliver the food together.

Create a Raffle – Win Cool Stuff!

Get good prizes donated. Price to get a ticket? Duh. Cans of food.

Lock Up Your Teacher

Columbus High School in Iowa did this last year. They put teachers on the school roof on a drizzly, cold day. (Seriously.) Each donated can added a minute of lock-up time. The result? 6+ hours on the roof! Dude. We all have teachers we’d like to see locked up…

Party in Ur Parking Lot

Rock out in front of the grocery store. (People might buy extra cans.) Post it on Facebook and Craigslist. Or, go old school and hang posters around town. (Maybe the grocery store will agree to match cans?)

Facebook-athon

Mod-twist on the old school phone-athon. Invite friends over. Instead of calling people, how many people can you get via Facebook in an hour?

Chain Gang

You donate 5 cans. You get 5 friends to donate 5 cans. You get them to each get 5 friends to give 5 cans. Ummmm. You get the idea.
