A Shelter Close to Home
First, you have to decide which shelter you’d like to support. To find a shelter near you go to: Pets911 , Petfinder (Better if you’re in Canada)
Spread the word to the world
Once you have the date and location for the dog wash pinned down, start the hype by making posters and flyers to post around town. Make these colorful and attention grabbing but be sure to include all the details: which shelter the benefit is for, date, time, place, what to bring, etc.
Material World
You’ll need a good deal of materials for the dog wash so you can actually wash the dogs. Things you’ll need are: dog shampoo, a large plastic bin to use as a tub, a small bin for smaller dogs, a lot of towels and a comb. You might be able to get these products donated by a local pet store.
Doggy Assembly Line
Create stations that are clearly labeled and have a friend or family member man each station. For instance, stations would probably include a shampoo/washing stop, a rinsing stop, a drying stop, and a brushing stop. Don’t forget to add a doggy donation station at the end where customers can donate $$ to the shelter.
Shelter Info
Make sure you hand out flyers about the shelter you are donating proceeds to. Included on the flyer should be details about all their programs, volunteering there, and pics of cute animals that need homes, of course. You should also provide different options for donating to the shelter—who to make checks out to and what they need besides money.
