Calendars for a Cause

Calendars for a Cause

Forgot someone’s birthday? Looks like you need a calendar! In fact, most people probably need one too. Sell calendars as a great way to raise money (and help people get organized, too!)

Ingredients:

  • Photos
  • A printing place

Pick a theme

What will the theme of the calendar be? Ask a photo or art teacher in your school if their students would want to submit work for the calendar. Obviously, you’ll need 12 different pieces, one for each month. (13 if you want a different one for the cover!). Some theme ideas include: Flowers Black and White Places around town Animals People Objects of a certain color (i.e. all pictures/paintings have to be of something red)

Idea: Depending on what charity you are donating to, try and pick photos relevant to the cause. For example, if you are donating to an animal shelter, use pictures of cute puppies!

Advertise the heck out of them!

SELL! Hang up flyers, call people, send out e-mails, anything! Get the word out, and be sure to include important information like:

  • What the calendar is
  • What the theme will be
  • What year will it be for
  • How much they cost
  • When they have to order them by
  • What the charity that the money is going to is

After you’ve gotten all your orders in, figure out how many you are going to have printed. Make sure you charge more than they cost to print! Order a few extra, because people will want them after they see how awesome they are! Get some kind of contact info for people, in case you need to contact them later, and also to let them know when they can pick their calendars up. (e-mail would probably be fastest!)

Get ‘em printed!

Shop for the cheapest printing place. Ask them what the easiest way to make a calendar is. See if they will offer a discount if you’re a student, or because it’s for a charity! Include a thank-you page in the calendar for all the people that helped you, and include their business name.

Hand them out!

Let the people who bought them know when they can get them. Have a table set up after school where parents or students can pick up the calendars. If there are some unclaimed one, e-mail the people who forgot to pick them up.
