Collecting Garbage to Meet the Challenge

Call ‘em out for a challenge!

Ask the local recycling/environmental organization if they are interested in donating to the fundraiser. They can match the weight of the garbage that you and your friends collect on the beach (for example, they can donate a dollar for every pound of garbage collected).

Call the volunteers out

Put up signs around school, asking for volunteers. State the cause, date, and contact information on the poster. If the weather is nice and a lot of students show up, trash-collecting on the beach can be fun…right?

Out to the beach

Making sure everybody’s dressed for the occasion, arrange a way of getting to the closest beach (public transportation, car pool, or even biking!).

Let’s pack on the pounds!

Although picking up the garbage is important, it’s just as important to weigh it correctly—get as much money for your cause as you can, while you can!

Meeting the challenge

It’s time for the recycling/environmental organization to pay up! Contact the organization and give them the final weigh-in. Very important--don’t forget to thank them for their cooperation in the end.
