Maybe without even knowing it, your community probably has at least a few artists and musicians that you can connect to. There are so many ways to appreciate and learn from local artists.

Here are a few ideas:

• Ask them to speak to a group of students about their work and their life as an artist. Gather a group of friends or classmates to listen and learn! Come prepared with questions.
• Ask them to hold a workshop to teach you skills related to their profession. If they are a painter, for example, maybe they can teach a lesson on color.
• Ask musicians if they will perform- maybe in your school or public place like a park.

Things to remember:

• One place to find out what artists are in your community is local galleries.
• When you ask an artist to get involved, be appreciative of their time.
• However they get involved, make sure to thank them and stay connected!
