Letter Writing Campaign

Letter writing campaign

Want to get local businesses involved in your fundraising campaign?  Write them letters!  It's a great way to look professional and to encourage local businesses to donate to your awesome cause.

Ingredients:

  • Paper
  • A computer/really neat handwriting
  • A phone book
  • Envelopes
  • Stamps (optional, if you drop the letters off yourself!)
  • Great writing skills

Choose the lucky businesses

…That will receive a letter from you! If you have big companies in your town, definitely write to them! A very small salon may not be as willing to donate as your town’s biggest bank, so choose wisely.

Put your English class skills to work

Write that letter! Be polite, mature, and enthusiastic. Tell they why you want to raise money, what cause it is going to, and what your fundraising goal is. Tell them that no donation is too small, and be sure to include your address for donations to be sent to.

If you want to be really fancy, include an envelope and a slip of paper that they can fill out saying how much they are giving. It will also be a great way for you to send thank you notes later! Try and look more professional so they will be more willing to give.

Send ‘em out!

Mail them or drop them off, which ever you want. Be sure that addresses are typed or written correctly. Ask friends to help out with mailing and dropping off if you can.

Say “thank you!”

Send thank you notes to the businesses that donated. Tell them how much you ended up raising and let them know that you sent the money to the charity you told them about.
