Signs of eating disorders
One important thing that you can do is to KNOW the signs, and WATCH for them, especially if you have someone you are close to you who you are worried about. You can’t always tell if someone is bulimic or anorexic, because somebody might have lost weight due to other health issues. Consider the following signs
So how can you tell if a person has an eating disorder? You can't only tell by looking — someone who loses a lot of weight may have another health condition. But if you know of someone who fits the patterns described below, you may want to try to help your friend.
Ten Signs of an Eating Disorder
1.Drastic weight loss
2.Preoccupation with counting calories
3. The need to weigh yourself several times a day
4. Excessive exercise
5. Binge eating or purging
6.Food rituals, like taking tiny bites, skipping food groups or re-arranging food on the plate
7.Avoiding meals or wanting to eat alone
8. Taking laxatives or diuretics
9.Smoking to curb appetite
10. Persistent view of yourself as fat that worsens despite weight loss
