INGREDIENTS A large pool or tub for many people to jump into, such as a community swimming pool Posters and Flyers Prep Time: 1-2 weeks Cooking Time: 1 afternoon |
To the Beach in December!
People need a big space to plunge into, whether it is a large swimming pool or the ocean. Look into community centers, and see if they can lend their outdoor pools for one day. The beach is another option—find out if the nearest beach is open during the winter. If not, then contact the beach’s staff/manager to see if they can open for one day. It’s all for a good cause, after all.
Everybody, Listen Up!
Make bright, flashy posters and hang them up around the neighborhood. Tell people to bring their friends and family—jumping into frigid waters together can be a bonding experience, after all. Include when, where, how much, and why. Towels and a change of warm, dry clothing is a must!
The Day of the Ice Baths
On the day of the plunges, stand by the entrance to the beach/pool and collect the small fees from the people as they come in. Wait for everybody to ready themselves for the cold, and throw out a signal. Cover yourself—everybody jumping in at the same time will create a huge splash!
Don’t Get Sick!
After the ice baths, make sure everybody is warm and toasty in dry clothing.
