Fasten your seatbelt and bring it on…How to spread awareness about teen safe driving at your school
Visitor’s Pass
Wanna see some new faces at your school? Invite adults in your community to present information about teen safe driving.
Here are some ideas…
- Contact your local police or fire department. Find out if a representative can come to the school to talk about safe driving. Presenters can offer information like, what to do if your car crashes, or how do I make sure I’m driving safely?
- Anyone seen ER? What about the real thing? Invite a doctor from the emergency room to talk about the kinds of car accidents they see when teens don’t drive safely.
- Contact your local MADD (Mothers against Drunk Driving) Chapter. Find the closest chapter on their website. Find out if a representative from the organization can come and speak to your school.
- Don’t want to invite anyone new? Dress up as a vehicle crash tester as you greet students before an assembly about teen safe driving.
Drama anyone?
No not the petty kind, we mean a skit about teen safe driving.
Grab a bunch of friends and come up with a short funny play that demonstrates the importance of teen safe driving. Hit on issues like wearing a seatbelt, drunk driving, and backseat distractions. See if you can get some faculty or administrators to guest star in your show. If you wanna make your play into a mock car crash activity, check out the SADD website for more tips.
You could be president!
Maybe not of the United States...
...but at least president of a club that promotes teen safe driving at your school. Grab your classmates and discuss events, fundraisers, and activities that you can hold to promote safe driving at your school, and throughout the nation. If you start a SADD (students against destructive decisions) chapter, you can get lots of help on their website.
