You have always dreamed of making it to Broadway... or maybe not, but bringing your stories to life on stage is a great way to express yourself and bring art into your community.
Put it on Paper
Work alone, or with friends, classmates, or family to write a script. Sometimes the best stories are from your own experiences!
Find your Cast
Gather friends, classmates, and family members to act in your play. Post flyers advertising your call for actors. Don't forget to recruit from the drama class. If you have too many people, hold an audition. Have each candidate read a scene and decide who is best for the job.
You'll Need a Stage
Find a space in your school auditorium or local theater to perform in, and get permission to use it.
What will they wear?
Dig around your closet to find costumes. You can always ask neighbors for donations of old clothes too!
Make it Official
Make a program for your visitors, giving credit to everyone that has been involved.
Publicity
Advertise! Make flyers, email the event to listserves, create an event on facebook, be creative and get the word out. Find an artist to help (it shouldn't be hard, it is an art show).
Curtains up!
You’re ready to go! Good luck and remember to have fun!
