CORPORATE SPONSORS
Speaker: Aria Finger, Do Something, CMO
For-profits and not-for-profits. The difference is that not-for-profits don't have to deal with money, right? Wrong! Money may be even more important to not-for-profits. They need funds to run all the great programs that they have and to help all the people whom they help. As a not-for-profit, there are several different ways that you can fundraise and Aria will talk about how to get corporate sponsors to fund you and your idea. She will help you figure out which companies are right for your organization/program, how to secure your dream corporate sponsors, and how to keep your sponsors happy!
SESSION 2 (10:45-11:40)
MAKING A LIVING GIVING
Speaker: Divine Bradley, The Social Mogul
In this session Divine will introduce the basics of social entrepreneurship, discuss the breakthroughs in the "social entrepreneurship wave," and talk you through how to convert today's business into tomorrow's benefits. Divine will also share his best practices and lessons learned over his 10 years as a growing social entrepreneur.
SESSION 3 (1:30-2:25)
FORMING AND OPTIMIZING PARTNERSHIPS
Speakers: Melanie Stevenson, Do Something, Business Development Associate, and Jonathan Schilit, Do Something, Marketing
In order to run a successful project or organization it is not only essential to know the other organizations and companies working in your space, but also how to work with them. Jonathan and Melanie will discuss basic partnership types and what it means to create and execute meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships. They will not only cover best practices for partnering with other not-for-profits, but also corporate, media and online partners. They will look at examples from Do Something’s slate of partners and answer the question: "What is a successful partnership?"
SESSION 4 (2:35-3:30)
BUILDING A WEBSITE
Speaker: George Weiner, Do Something, CTO
Building a website isn't as scary as it seems! In this session, George will walk you through the main steps of creating an effective web presence for a start-up not-for-profit, and he will demystify elements of website construction. The solutions presented will emphasize low- or no-cost third party organizations for the most common needs of websites. This session will cover your online branding checklist, how to get a domain, using free or cheap sites and templates to create your online presence, building a list of supporters and setting up an online donation system.
