Action Tips: Using Google Forms to Collect Data

Type of guide:
tips

Google Forms is an efficient, fast way to gather information from people (donors, sponsors, volunteers, friends, staff) and have it organized neatly in a Google Spreadsheet.

Internally, you can use Forms to gather information, plan events, or just to find out how your co-workers' days are going. Externally, it's a great way to survey people. (Check out how we used a Google Forms survey.)

To get started, this video gives you a run-down of how to create a Google Form.

Some examples of ways you can use Google Forms:

  • Ask what dates and times your volunteers are available.
  • Ask what aspects of your site or programs interest your users the most.
  • Request that staff members write in which duties and items they will be responsible for bringing to an event.
