The Problem

50% of high school students do not graduate from high school in Los Angeles. Current studies trace the causes of dropping out back to symptoms seen in elementary school. Education is important and essential for the future, therefore we must Educate the Youth!

Plan of Action

The LMU Do Something! Club will put together an hour and a half long presentation about education for a group of children (ages 5+) at the Westwood Transitional Village in Los Angeles. The presentation will consist of three topics: Staying in School, Healthy Habits, and Bullying. The group will encourage the importance of education through art, science, and engineering projects. They will encourage healthy habits by doing a fun dance with the kids and helping them find new ways to stay fit and healthy. The group will also raise awareness about cyber bullying. All participants will receive a fun educational book and jump rope for motivation.
