The problem is that drivers, teens as well as adults, are driving unsafely. A new law was recently put into effect that reprimands those who text and drive, and not enough people are aware of it. Distracted driving is a danger no matter what the distraction is, but texting and driving seems to be one of the most popular mistakes among drivers. A couple of months back, I was involved in two car accidents. In the first, balloons inside the car blocked my friends vision and she was too distracted with changing the music in her car to pay enough attention as she switched lanes. We ended up sandwiched between two cars, only 2 blocks away from school. In the second car accident, only 3 weeks later, another car crashed into the front of the car I was. The driver was texting and miscalculated his turn. No one was severely hurt in either accident, but one of us could have easily been injured.
