Events took place April 7th 2007
I coordinated, along with a few friends, in lending a hand with a community organization called the UMOM organization. UMOM New Day Centers has served the community of Phoenix through a variety of programs since 1964. Their objective is to help homeless, at-risk families to become self-sufficient and independent. This is accomplished by the provision of food and shelter, together with a continuum of services that will help families reach self-sufficiency. Activities, games, and an Easter Egg hunt was organized early the Saturday morning before Easter 2007 in the courtyard outside the Living facility. Its was a success! More than 65 children and adults gathered to pick up free Easter baskets and school donations from people looking to put happy faces on children’s faces in spite of Easter. Easter baskets were donated from organizations valley wide. (Organizations such as Greek Orthodox Church of Phoenix, Joann Lewendowski, and The, University of Phoenix)Good Reviews were given and hopefully this event becomes a bigger success year after year.
