I have lived in the lakewood area for nearly 6 years now. All I have come accross are drug users or prostitution workers. That is not the life or environment I want to be in. When walking to work through my neighood, I have to deal with cars asking me to get in, walking past police cars, and strangers approaching me asking me if I am "working". What kind of environment is this for a teen or anyone else to live in? Why should we have to be subjected to the negative aspects of life because of the are we live in. It's time for a change. I want to tranform my community. If I cannot get a transformation, then I want to make a noticable change that, so that others can feel more comfortable in this community that they reside in. My plans is still in developing form but I haver very good ideas and possibly will need funding. My first move involves the highschool I graduated from the past spring. Since my high school is very supportive in community involvment and improvement I want to pitch and idea to them and the superintendent based upon getiing others involved with helping make our community a place to live in. This needs to be noticed. We have so many run down trailers, apartments, and homes but yet nothing is being done. There is construction being done in our neighborhood but how is that benefiting us? How is a new car dealership and a sounder station going to help our community? I understand the area is famous for the two but its time for our tax dollars to start benefiting us and not just have us taking detours for another car dealership. Its time for a change.
