What can we do?

I sponser a child from South America. She was 6 when I first 'adopted' her. I will never forget it. I got the paperwork and just stood there, staring at this little girl's picture, realizing that it is now my responsibility to make sure she has what she needs for school, food, health, and for her family. I started during the summer and that next Christmas was one I will never forget. I got a picture around that time and it showed my little girl sitting in a room full of presents and just a few of them were hers. She was so happy, grateful and overjoyed that she didn't even care that she was in room on Christmas that was full of presents that weren't hers except for two or three, and was grateful. Many kids in America would be disappointed at the types of gifts she got. They would consider that their "usual shopping list at wal-mart each week". I was amazed by how much this little girl has grown, physically, mentally and religiously. I just recently recieved a letter informing me that my little 'adopted' girls mother passed away from disease and that her and all her sibilings were left. I know that with my support she will still be able to attend school, get regular doctor visits, and aspire to become whatever she wants. I know that if I can not only change her life but mine also that we could all do a little more to help someone out, even if they are many, many miles around the world and have never even met.
