In October 2006, Human Preservations Society was started by myself and my friend Larisa Chavez. Our goals for this organization was to promote healthy living in people by showing them how modifying their daily habits in small and seemingly insignificant ways, can make a difference in the deterioration that the world is facing today.
Typical ways that we raise money for our cause (which include donating to GreenPeace and local organizations)includes: bake sales (we raised over $250 selling all-organic and vegan baked goods to people in the community. We used this bake sale to spread awareness about the benefits of eating an all-natural diet free of pesticides, hormones, and steroids), candy grams (sold at school and distributed on holidays), and our newest project is a Fiesta-themed dance. The money from our bake sale and candy gram sales will go towards providing for the dance. After paying $1 admission, students will be able to have a good time with their friends. Along with food for sale and music and dance competitions/games, there will be a slide show depicting issues going on in the world today and ways in which average people can help the cause.
For being just over a year old, HPS has come a long way, and we hope it will spread even more after Larisa and I have graduated high school.
