The Problem

The description of my project is this: to help a child in need. I attended a youth conference in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006 called the Student Life Tour. Compassion International was there and they had the opportunity to speak with us. They told us that we can make a difference in the life of a child, even though we are young. I believed that and I still do. I got to thinking about how I could help and I remembered that I had saved up about $1000 worth of birthday and Christmas money from years past. I had also saved the money I had earned from mowing my grandma's lawn and odd jobs like that. So I filled out a registration card and chose the child that I was going to begin to sponsor. I chose who God told me to choose. That was a boy named Jethro in the Phillippines whose father is a pastor in their community and whose mom is employed whenever she can be. I could see that this was a very tight knit family based on the description I read. Thus, I began sending $32/ month to meet this child's needs. I have also had the opportunity to write letters to him and to read the ones he sends me. In every letter I write to him, I encourage him and tell him just to follow God and everything will be provided for him. Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
