The Leadership and Action class, of which I am a member of, has a traditional project that was started a couple years ago called Freezin for a Reason. During the winter season, we get donations of winter clothing items and run a canned food drive for the hungry during school. Then we collect donations and get sponsors to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. By the end of the project we proceed to sleep outside in cardboard boxes for 12 hours. For one, cold, wintery night we sleep outside to get a feel for what the homeless go through everyday. We tell people what we are raising the money for and they sponspor us or give us very generous donations. In the past years that we have done it, it has been a major success. We hope to continue this tradition to bring the community and the school together for this cause.
