My project brings awareness to the growing problem of school violence through a drama format. "Bang, Bang You're Dead" takes place in a prison cell with just the main character and his conscious, which takes form as the five peers he killed earlier that day. Many other similar projects only focus on the horrors and signs of a school shooting, "B.B.Y.D." not only shows the signs to look for, but it also shows how the community plays a factor in shootings and the effects a shooting has on the community and the shooter.
After my productions, I assembled a panel of experts to discuss relevant subjects with the community in an open question session. Each discussion lasted about an hour and a half. My cast and I reached most of our community and even into the surrounding areas with our message, and I know we were successful.
