I understand that someone has already submitted this project, but this project has really brought my school together, all working for one goal. Although the ultimate purpose is to raise money for our partner school Sacred Heart Secondary School, it is also to raise awareness of the crisis in northern Uganda. The civil war between the LRA, lord's resistance army, and the government of Uganda has been going for over 21 years. Many children are being kidnapped and brainwashed into child soldiers. Over 2 million people are displaced and more than half do not have the money to gain the education needed in order to break free from the grip of poverty. I started this club to unite the youth in my school and reach out to those who do not know what is truly going on in Africa. We have made duct tape wallets, hemp bracelets, t-shirts, and pins to raise the money needed to support our sister school in books, buildings, technology, utilities, and much more. We also had many events such as a cafe night and benefit dinner to raise awareness and money. Although we started a month late into this campaign, we have raised over $2000 already.
