Every year so many kids, from young children to older teenagers, are plagued with the heartaches that too often comes with urban living. Abuse, drugs, alcohol, poverty, poor education, gangs, are all major problems. Everyone needs a place to go where they can feel like they're a part of something, like they're understood, loved, respected, somewhere they can go to express themselves, to find something they can be passionate about. Art and music have been one of the biggest parts of my life for as far back as I can remember. My hope is to give kids facing these problems a new outlook on life through art and music. A place (almost like a community center) where they can go and learn about and immerse themselves in art and music. Artists and musicians (teachers, professionals, and non-professionals alike) could devote their time as volunteers at the center. It's a huge undertaking requiring alot of money because a building needs to be bought/rented to house this project and instruments and supplies need to be purchased. It's alot to work for but it's something I've wanted to do for awhile. Everyone deserves a shot at a future they might never even have dreamed. Having a place like this could save countless kids from alcohol, drugs, suicide, and the gang life. I decided on this name because as I'm typing this I'm watching Freedom Writers and am completely inspired by them. I named it like what they'd done in the movie "Toast for change", "Concert for change", "Taste for Change".
