During the winter our school helps low income families in many ways. First we have a coat drive in september to encourage our students to donate their old jackets and coats to the school and some people donate brand new coats and blankets. In november time we have a can food drive, we make it fun and the class who donates the most can food wins class points that go towards an end of the year bbq. All of the clothes, blankets, and food are donated to low income families and homeless people in our city. We also make sure the holidays are enjoyed by all. In our school media center we hold a "giving tree," it's a plastic tree decorated in snow flakes and holds 3x5 cards that have a childs name and their wish for the holidays. Students and teachers both are able to pick one that they are interested in, and purchase the present for that child. Those are just a few things that Junction City High School does to make it easier for low income families and homeless in our town.
