The Sing for the Summer program is directed to young women ages 12 to 18 who are interested in learning to sing harmony, read music, and stage presence. Beginning on Monday evening, May 17th, we are offering this program for the second summer with an expanded study program. Meetings/classes will be held on each Monday evening as well as on one Saturday afternoon each month. While we are making contact with these girls through the music departments, we are also reaching out to the home schooled girls who may have missed opportunities to be a part of a choral group.
We are a Sweet Adeline Chorus who have been very active in the local schools working with Girls Choruses and Choirs. We have helped the Music Department raise funds through annual concerts where our awarded winning chorus performed on their concert. We taught them one of our songs and they taught us one of theirs.
We will be teaching girls to read music, sight sing, appropriate choreography to the selected songs, stage presence, costuming and makeup. At the end of the summer they will be presenting a concert slated for September 6th.
